Participants were presented with a similar selection of symbols as used in the first exercise such as, 'being told the truth' and 'being treated as an equal'. I used this tool to gather the views of a three year old child, who was showing signs of real distress during contact with her mother who has personality disorder. The hospital team were also concerned about Ruby during the night as she needed help in the hospital to get to the toilet and she would not be able to do this without help at home. All places are subject to strict cancellation conditions as demand is very high for this course. The appeal procedure was also explained in detail. The child was involved in this and he wanted two chairs side by side for him and his mum and for the worker to sit close behind him. It is not a communication aid for everyday conversation.
